HELSINKI .- The Finnish telecom company Nokia has lowered its sales forecasts for the third quarter of the year, in addition to warn that may not maintain the 40% market share reached in June, as pointed their latest estimates.
The biggest maker of mobile phones in the world has noted in a statement it expects to sell proportionately fewer aircraft than its competitors during the third quarter, mainly due to “tactical decision not to imitate the aggressive pricing policy of some of them” .
“The strategy is to expand its market share only when this increase is sustainable for long-term profitability,” the company said in a statement.
However, Nokia maintains that the global sales volume will grow in 2008 at least 10% compared to 1,140 million phones sold last year, and maintains its objective of increasing its market share at year-end.
The news has not been well received in the Helsinki Stock Exchange, where Nokia has suffered a drop in its shares from 9.55% to 14.20 euros po title
