Raikkonen returned to Ferrari to pole position

Posted by 11 March, 2009

The last training session Kimi Raikkonen before the start of the World in Australia, he served the Finnish pilot to put Ferrari in the right place that would seem to merit. Raikkonen has managed the best time (1m 20.3 s) and has proved that his Ferrari car is stronger and faster than those in the circuit of Montmeló. The wave of training will conclude on Thursday, but the former world champion is not going to jump on the car on a circuit to Melbourne. Ferrari not train next week in Jerez, and from tomorrow will enter liza Felipe Massa.

“To me, Ferrari is the car that offers better benefits,” said Jarno Trulli, Toyota driver. “I think it goes a little ahead of everyone else. I have doubts about what is happening in Renault: I do not understand that the car works in the hands of Alonso and times when you can not drive Piquet. And I think that McLaren has a problem in these moments, but for sure it will solve the first race of the World. ”

Feelings of Trulli are circulating in the paddock. Fernando Alonso had to settle for the eighth best time (1m 21.9 s) a day, more than half a second and the Finn. However, the Spanish driver did not seem overly worried. “We have tried many things, but the car works,” he insisted. The Spanish still excited for the tournament and was convinced that at least you can fight for the podium. In the team hinted that there are still many unknown elements in the factory that will not be added until next week at Jerez, the last test before Melbourne Renault.

However, other teams suffer more. McLaren is the most flagrant. Montmeló were reproduced in the problems of recent days in Jerez last week. Internal sources of the team hinted that there is a problem with the diffuser that affects the whole train back. They lack grip and are also changing the rear wing to try and find a solution. Because they still have time be in Jerez next week, and with the contribution of Pedro de la Rosa, piecework in the simulator in Woking.

Montmeló is also surprising in the performance of ex-Honda GP Brawn, who returned yesterday to be among the best. Barrichello was third, surpassed only by Raikkonen and the Williams of Nakajima. Toyota and BMW are still in an excellent line and scenarios are emerging as rivals Ferrari and McLaren.
