Active citizenship and television: Symposium in Leeds
What is the future of television in the era of participation and interactivity? Can the masses by means of excellence to satisfy the demands of an increasingly active audience and fragmented? What to do, both from the point of view as a journalistic enterprise, to respond to new television consumption habits, which point to the asynchronous viewing via websites such as YouTube? Are “active” and “TV” concepts oxymoron ?
All these interesting questions will be addressed at the conference “Broadcast News and the Active Citizen”, to be held on 7 January 2008 at the University of Leeds, hosted by the Institute of Communications Studies. The symposium aims to be a dialogue between academics and professionals from television, which presented results of academic research and reviewed the new initiatives of the audiovisual media to meet the challenges of the digital age .
The registration period is open and ends on December 31, 2007. More information on the website of the conference .
